Good afternoon!!! Today in Nursery we had a special visit from the Make and Play group! They specialise in robotic laboratories for kids!! Our helper Anna told us we would be making a Robot Santa Claus who spins a gift around!

First she explained to us what we would need to make it and the different steps we would take. 

Then she wrote down all our names on name tags to help her remember us! 

She showed us the first two pieces we would need to make the body of our Santa! 

We each got to choose two plastic containers!

Then we had to decide which would go on the bottom and which one would go on the top!

Then we had to cover both pieces in red tissue paper since Santa wears a read suit!

Once our pieces were covered, Anna explained how we could decorate our Santas how we wanted too and that she, Miss Paola and Miss Lindsay would help us glue them together with the hot glue gun.

We picked out materials from all different types of things.

There were buttons, bottle caps, fabric, beads and straws!

There was so much to choose from!

Then the teachers helped us to glue everything together! Some of us were pretty good with the glue guns so we got to do it on our own!

You can start to see our Santas coming to life!

Next came the robotic part! We were each given a motor, a battery and wire! We had to connect the wires to the battery to make the motor spin!

Once they were connected the teachers helped us to glue them on to our Santas and also to glue a present on to the motor to spin around!

Here are some of our finished Robot Santa Claus!

We can't wait to show them to you!!!! This was the best morning ever!!!

Good afternoon!! Today in Nursery we read a story with Miss Lindsay about a lonely polar bear who was looking for a friend! A snow cloud tried to help him by making animals out of snow. So Miss Lindsay asked us to draw the animals with a white crayon on blue paper.

Some of us drew just one animal while others drew two. We could choose from a polar bear, whale, owl, seal  or a reindeer. We also practised our songs for the Christmas Concert!

Good afternoon!! Today in Nursery we started the day by practising our songs with Miss Lindsay for our Christmas Concert which will be on December 21st at 11:30, our last day of school before the Christmas break.

Then after lunch we had Circle Time with Miss Helen to talk about friendship and what it means to be a friend! You mustn't fight with or hit your friends. To make friends you should be kind and helpful and talk with your friends, or they won't want to be friends anymore. 

After we had socio effetivo with Miss Helen where we talked about what it means to be happy and we had to draw something that makes us happy!!

Good afternoon!! Yesterday in Nursery we went to the Museo di Storia Naturale e Archeologia di Montebelluna for a laboratory on Natural Colors!

First we started by introducing ourselves to our guide and sharing our favourite colors. then we had to go on a treasure hunt to find Red, Blue, Green and Yellow cards in the museum.

After that we had a small slide show about colors and where they come from. Did you know that most colors used to paint and dye come from vegetables?!?!?!?

 

The guide showed where green, red, yellow and blue come from! Red came from cooked beets. Green from crushed fresh spinach. Blue from purple cabbage. Yellow from powdered ochre. We got to touch, smell and see these vegetables and the guide showed us how to extract the color.

 

Then it was turn!! We had to crush the spinach leaves with the mortar and pestle then drain the leaves with water. We mixed the powdered ochre with water and honey to make a paint. We squished the cooked beets to get the color and also used tea bags.

We took these colors and finger painted! We had yellow, red and green!! For the blue, we took fresh cut cabbage and scraped it across the page!

As for the finished result, well we hope you enjoyed them!

Good afternoon!! Today in Nursery we started work on our Winter classroom decorations! We are making Rudolf the red nosed reindeer with Miss Lindsay! First we had to sponge paint the body and face!

Then we had to glue on the red nose!

Next we glued on the the four brown legs!

And then Miss Lindsay traced both our hands to make the antlers!!

After lunch we had Socio Effectivo with Miss Helen where we talked about who our best friend is and who we like to play with! We had to draw a picture of ourselves playing with our friend!

Good afternoon!! Today in Nursery we had Music with Miss Elena where we practised our songs for the Christmas recital!! Then later with Miss Lindsay we started to work on a project for the classroom!!

We had to punch our 12 balloons which will become a calendar for all of our birthdays!!! Now everyone will know when there is a birthday coming up!!

Good afternoon!! Today we went to Sarmede to listen to some fun books and to see all the special artwork that comes from them!!

Our guide was really fun!! She made us laugh a lot and taught us many things!!

We heard 4 great stories!! It was such a special day!!

Good afternoon!! Today in Nursery we finished out Snowman paintings! We had to let them dry over night!

You can see how painting around the stencil allowed for the white body to stay clean! Today we added the eyes, mouth and carrot nose! Miss Lindsay put our Snowmen up around the classroom so we can admire our work everyday!!

Good afternoon! Today in Nursery we worked on some Winter art with Miss Lindsay!

We painted a snowman using only one finger and some blue paint!

We had to finger paint around the stencil to make the shape of the Snowman on the white paper and then add fingerprints around the paper to create following snow! It was really fun to get our hands nice and messy and full of paint!

Good afternoon! Today in Nursery we worked with Miss Paola on whats Up and Down.

We had a nice discussion where we had to show what things were on and what was under in the classroom. Then we had to color in our work books following Miss Paola's instructions.

Then in the afternoon we finished working on our snowflake crafts with Miss Lindsay.

Last week we colored some lines in white crayon and then today we had to use blue water colors to paint over them. 

Today we also celebrated two birthdays in Materna Inglese!!! Happy birthday to Sebastiano and Elia and thank you for the yummy cakes!!

Good afternoon!! We hope everyone had a nice time at the Castagnata yesterday! We had a great time and it was really yummy! Today in Nursery we worked on our Memory Book with Miss Lindsay!

We talked about things that are pleasant to us! Many said Rainbows, but there was some who said the snow or the fog. There were also a few who said parties and playing with their siblings! After our discussion we had to draw what was pleasant for us!

It was a fun morning, but then we also had a practise fire drill!!! That was a little scary because we didn't know if there was really a fire or not! But Miss Paola and Miss Lindsay said we were all really good about getting into line and walking outside! We learned in the end that is was just a practise and that there was no fire!
